  : The Shalimar cottages and motel are a quaint piece of Florida history. We found the accommodations gave us everything we needed for a relaxing week wt the beach.

  : Great location, clean and organized grounds. The beach looked awesome with easy access from our motel room. We will return!
  : Unfortunately, we had to leave after two nights into a five night planned stay because of a medical situation. So we never got to the beach, we never made it to the pool and we never got to experience all that Sanibel Island has to offer. We hope to make it back to Shalimar in the not too distant future.

  : Place and location was great. The views, the beach, the kitchen facilities, the barbecue settlement outdoors, the pool, the laundry service, how close you have variety of grocery stores... all great in that aspect. Place is awesome.
  : However, we did encounter an unexpected problem we were not aware neither ready for it. The little flies biting you before 8 AM and after 4 pm, if one was outdoors or even the balcony. The mosquito net cant stop them from entering. I guess the resort is not responsible for it, but they should have warned us. Actually, they should warn all guests about it, or even sell bugs spray or something... or a warning paper on your room table after checking in. Another option is to spray well the outdoor area. Maybe , we will not suffer much from the bites. For this reason, we will not repeat there again. It took us few days to heal from the bites.

  : We really enjoyed the location, beach area, and the outside appearance, The beds and pillows were comfortable. The manager was nice.
  : We had to walk to the office building to trade in towels, to get coffee, and anything needed that was supplied, soap, shampoo, ect. We took care of our own trash via a dumpster. We paid extra to rent an umbrella to use on the beach. No elevator on site. Kitchen cabinet door wouldn't close all the way, towel bar would fall off, we could see daylight out the external door and watched a lizard enter the next room under their door. A small bottle of shampoo (not the motel brand) was open and dried up in the shower/tub. We liked the manager, but I have to be honest about this experience. He said he can't get help. I totally believe that is the case. In general I think the price was too expensive for the circumstances.
