  : The location was great! It was near almost everything we wanted to go to. There were many food choices around, most of them within walking distance. The room was smaller than expected but still comfortable. The pool was great! It was shallow enough to lounge around and swimming at night (closes at 10 pm) was great because the pool was heated. The hotel had a lot of character and charm. We liked the aesthetics and the overall look and feel.
  : I booked a corner room with a balcony, but we could not use it because apparently if you open the doors, flies will come rushing in. I get that it's because of the season, but I could have just booked a normal room instead of the upgrade. We were also thrilled that the toilet had a bidet just like in Japan BUT it wasn't working! The TV is not a smart TV so we could not watch YouTube or Netflix. Parking was also expensive per night, and we stayed there 2-nights.

  : The overall design and aesthetic of the hotel was interesting, not very cohesive but pretty and fun nonetheless. There was the classy somewhat old fashioned hotel lobby, tropical resort-like pool and outdoor lounge areas, then art deco futuristic rooms.Parking and check-in was easy, staff was friendly. The common areas for all visitors and guests were beautiful and looked well maintained.
  : Let's start with the service: I called days ahead to ask if there was a microwave in the room, and was told it was only by request. I made such request on that phone call then, days later, arrived to a room with no microwave. Upon walking into the room, the bed was loosely made, and we noticed that the sheets were not centered and longer on one side, to the point where laying on the bed caused the sheets to shift and reveal the bare mattress underneath. We also noticed that there was a large crack in the mirror below the TV. Not the best look, and honestly was a bit concerning.After our first afternoon staying at the hotel, we noticed that the room had not been made up. Apparently, according to the welcome packet that we were supposed to receive (but didn't), room cleaning service is also only on a by-request basis. I've never been to a hotel that just assumes a guest doesn't want their room cleaned?! Not sure what the purpose of Do Not Disturb door hanger was.In the bathroom, I was pleasantly surprised to find a full size soaking tub, but even more unpleasantly surprised to find that the sink's left/hot water knob was loose and not working, the bathtub's hot and cold directions were switched completely, one of the walls had some questionable dirt splatters all over it, and the floor was EXTREMELY slippery when wet. Slipping and falling was a genuine fear. The same can be said for inside the bath tub, which had no grip at all... Had it not been for me bracing both of my feet against the side or end of the tub, I would continue to slide in and be completely submerged.Lastly, though not a standard hotel expectation at all, we were celebrating our anniversary, which I believe was also noted during my phone call with the hotel employee. Not a hint of anything done to acknowledge this, and our room on the 2nd floor had arguably one of the worst views: the parking garage entrance (which amplified every car, voice, and trash bin sound, etc).

  : The public space on street level is old school and lovely. You want to sit in the lobby or the adjacent patio to enjoy a bar drink. Quite reminiscent of the era when the hotel was built in late 1920’s.The pool area is massive. Multiple styles of seating options. Pool view king room sleek and comfortable. Front desk staff personable, pleasant.
  : Disappointed there was no fire pit in the pool area or patio off the lobby. That is a classic feature in CA hotels.Leaving that out was a big mistake!
